Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel?

Prompt:  Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel? Response: There was a time where I had a small interaction with a homeless man one time when I walked to my local gas station. I usually go there to buy myself a snack. It was during my freshman year and it was on the weekend. Some homeless man asked me for some money and said he'd buy something for me if I did. I declined and said sorry and walked away. I felt bad for declining but I don't trust any random man I don't know for my safety. Summary: In class we began to read a story on Writable. Reflection: I reflected on how I could help the homeless in the future.

Write about what you are thankful for

Prompt:  Write about what you are thankful for Response: I am thankful for my clothes and being able to style how I look. I'm glad to have a sense of fashion that I can express freely. To add on, I am thankful for the money to be able to buy the clothes and accessories that I have. I am also very thankful for my pet geckos. My geckos are incredibly important to me and I wouldn't have found my love for herpetology without them.  Summary: In class we worked on exercises over new vocabulary words.  Reflection: I reflected on how I can write faster.

The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?

Prompt:  The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story? Response: I once had a friend that I was very close with but eventually became on bad terms with them. Me and my old friend had been friends since middle school and we were known for being friends. It wasn't until my sophomore year that I heard that she was a rude person, not only to me behind my back but to others. I defended her a lot until it happened to me. As we got older, she changed a lot and I learned that your perspectives on people will change as you get older. Summary:  In class we took a test over "A Rose for Emily". Reflection:  I reflected on how I can keep a better schedule for school work.

In “A Rose for Emily,” Miss Emily’s actions shock the reader—she kills her fiancé and keeps his body in her home for years. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior? Response: The day I heard the news about Charlie Kirk, I was very shocked. Many other people were shocked too and I didn't believe the news at first until I fact checked it. There were feelings of disbelief and panic, wondering how this could affect other people. Although I wasn't sad, it was a big event that caused an uproar among people. Some people lost a lot of friendships or relationships due to their opinions. This event showed that you don't know people as well as you think until you hear their views on politics or shocking events.  Su...

Miss Emily’s house once represented pride and tradition, but over time it became a symbol of decay and isolation. Describe a place that holds deep memories for you—positive or negative—and explain how it reflects part of who you are or how you’ve changed over time.

Prompt:  Miss Emily’s house once represented pride and tradition, but over time it became a symbol of decay and isolation. Describe a place that holds deep memories for you—positive or negative—and explain how it reflects part of who you are or how you’ve changed over time. Response: The south holds a lot of memories for me. I grew up in a low income family in southern Georgia which impacted me emotionally and in different ways. It's a huge difference from living in the city and it holds a lot of memories for me. It has fed into my love for the outdoors and southern hospitality. It was also where I was raised as a kid so there's feelings of nostalgia that come from visiting the south. There are positive feelings that come from it like nostalgia and peace, but there are a few negative ones from being raised in a conservative town. Even though I love the south, I'd much rather prefer living here. Summary:  In class we started to read a story called "A Rose for Emily...

Think about the vocabulary words from Lesson Two. Write about a time you saw or heard one of these words outside of the classroom — maybe in a movie, song, social media post, or book. Describe how it was used and whether the context helped you understand the word better.

Prompt:  Think about the vocabulary words from Lesson Two. Write about a time you saw or heard one of these words outside of the classroom — maybe in a movie, song, social media post, or book. Describe how it was used and whether the context helped you understand the word better. Response: I have heard the words incantation and cosmopolitan frequently outside of the classroom. I have heard the word incantation mostly in movies or TV. More specifically, I usually hear it in fantasy or fictional media. The word cosmopolitan is frequently used to talk about famous celebrities or figures. One example of someone who was described as a cosmopolitan is Jeff Bezos. I find that words like these are more likely to be found in media rather than everyday conversations.  Summary:  In class we learned new vocabulary and worked on 2 exercises for it.  Reflection:  I reflected on the times I've used the vocabulary we learned today and what words I haven't used.

Words shape how we think, write, and interpret literature. Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger.

Prompt:  Words shape how we think, write, and interpret literature. Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger. Response: Learning new vocabulary has helped me write a lot better. I found that using a more broader vocabulary can make writing sound nicer and less repetitive. It can also help me express ideas or things more specifically. To add on, it also has improved my speech a lot more. I think that it's something we should all learn.  Summary:  In class we worked on a poem by Robert Frost and worked on our one pager. Reflection:  I reflected on how I can get some colored pencils for school.
